Job Description
Kingsway Locums are looking for Nurse Practitioners in Stromness.
This opportunity offers flexible sessional work across various primary care services, providing options for nurses experienced in minor illness, treatment room support and preventative health clinics delivered with a patient-focused approach.
You will be placed into well-run services with clear protocols, accessible senior clinical support and efficient appointment systems, allowing you to work confidently while maintaining a steady, manageable flow.
Up to 3 days a week available with flexibility on sessions.
Role offers a varied caseload combining same day work with planned care.
Key Responsibilities
• Assess and manage minor illness presentations within agreed scope of practice.
• Provide clinical advice, safety-netting and appropriate onward referral.
• Support chronic disease monitoring and health promotion where required.
• Undertake treatment room duties as needed, including immunisations and wound care.
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to local clinical policies.
• Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses and reception teams to optimise patient flow.
Requirements
• NMC registration with relevant post-registration experience.
• Recent UK primary care or urgent primary care experience.
• Confident assessment skills with strong clinical documentation standards.
• Prescribing qualification is advantageous where applicable to the role scope.
• Up-to-date mandatory training including safeguarding.
• Enhanced DBS and occupational health clearance as required.
Working Pattern
• Up to 3 days per week available with options for regular weekly bookings.
• Flexible session times agreed in advance.
• Clinics may be face-to-face, telephone or blended depending on service need.
• Opportunities for additional cover may be available if you wish.
