Job Description
Kingsway Locums is looking for a Practice Nurse to support a welcoming GP practice in St. Helens.
You will be part of an established nursing team with clear clinic templates, dependable healthcare assistant support, and good admin processes for recalls and results. The practice runs well with consistent systems, clear protocols, and a supportive culture that helps locums integrate quickly and deliver high-quality care.
Up to 3 days a week with flexibility on sessions and clinic mix.
Role Snapshot
• Core Practice Nurse clinics in a well-organised setting with strong team support.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver immunisations, cervical cytology, and routine treatment room activity.
• Support long-term condition clinics including asthma, COPD, and diabetes reviews within competence.
• Perform wound care, dressings, and general nursing procedures as required.
• Undertake health promotion, screening support, and patient education.
• Maintain accurate records, coding, and follow-up actions in line with protocols.
• Work closely with the nursing and GP team to ensure safe, efficient clinics.
Requirements
• NMC registration and recent experience as a Practice Nurse in UK primary care.
• Competence in core skills such as immunisations, cytology, and wound care.
• Confident use of clinical systems and high-quality documentation standards.
• Up-to-date mandatory training including safeguarding and basic life support.
• Compliance readiness including DBS and occupational health information.
Working Pattern
• Up to 3 days per week with flexible scheduling.
• Clinic focus can be tailored to your strengths and practice requirements.
• Ongoing sessions available depending on service demand and your availability.
